& heidi talbot
Ivor Novello & BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominees HEIDI TALBOT & BOO HEWERDINE have recorded and toured together extensively, going all the way back to Heidi’s first solo tour of the UK in 2005. This tour with Boo, one of England's most revered singer-songwriters, celebrates the magic of their long-standing musical relationship.
Born in Ireland, Heidi became a folk star in the USA as a member of the Irish American band Cherish the Ladies, and now lives in Edinburgh. With a background like that, it's hardly surprising she should develop a style that switches easily between Celtic and Americana, but subtlety is Talbot’s magic ingredient. From her gossamer voice to the delicate re-working of traditional and contemporary material that has earned her rave reviews for her records and live performances. Hailing originally from Co. Kildare, Heidi spent several years in New York and slips effortlessly between musical worlds but retains a personal modesty rooted in traditional folk.
Over the past ten years Heidi has performed all over North and South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand performing in the finest Concert Halls and International Festivals. She is equally at home in front of a Symphony Orchestra, a Performing Arts Center, a Folk Festival or even at the White House.
For over 30 years Boo has been considered one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters. As lead singer of seminal band The Bible, through to his subsequent solo work and long-time collaboration with the incredible Eddi Reader, he has become something of a national treasure. He is in demand as a writer, producer and performer. Over a hundred of his songs have been covered by the likes of KD Lang, Kris Drever, Chris Difford, Heidi Talbot and Hannah Rarity. His last album ‘Before’ was recorded with supreme Danish multi- instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren. It garnered multiple five star reviews.
A naturally gifted raconteur his shows are always a total joy and with Heidi their performances are simply beautiful.
Heidi & Boo will be at The Masonic Hall, Broughty Ferry, Dundee on Saturday 24th November.
